Françoise Joly Invited to the U.S. Embassy for the 250th Anniversary of American Independence

On 23 June 2026, Françoise Joly, Minister and Representative of the President of the Republic for Strategic Affairs and International Negotiations, was invited to attend the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States, hosted by the U.S. Embassy in Brazzaville.

The evening, held in a spirit of friendship, history and shared values, brought together several Congolese and diplomatic figures. Among the attendees were Constant-Serge Bounda, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Francophonie and Congolese Abroad, and Arlette Soudan-Nonault, Minister of Environment, alongside members of the diplomatic corps, economic actors and institutional partners.

In her address, Amanda Jacobsen, U.S. Chargée d’Affaires in Congo, placed the future of the bilateral relationship within a clear economic framework. “We believe in a future built on entrepreneurship, innovation and opportunity. We will continue to work with American companies and the Congolese government to attract investment, particularly in the sectors of critical minerals and energy” she stated.

The celebration highlighted the enduring friendship between the United States and the Republic of Congo. It also underscored the shared priorities that now shape the bilateral relationship, including migration security, commercial diplomacy, investment, climate issues, energy cooperation and regional security.
